The section of the healthcare industry that I have never visited is the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Section. The paper will discuss my experience in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Section of Memorial Hermann- Texas Medical Centre.

Memorial Hermann- Texas Medical Centre is located in Houston, Texas. The hospital was established in 1925 as Memorial Hermann Health system flagship hospital. The hospital serves as The University of Texass primary teaching hospital. Texas Medical Centre provides top notch medical care with regard to neuroscience, heart problems, womens health, orthopedics and general surgery. Texas Medical Centre is the worlds largest medical complex.

In 1943, the city of Houston provided the Texas Medical Centre with 134 acres of land on which to establish a hospital district. In 1950, a three-story building started being built by Leopold Meyer that gave rise to a 106-bed Texas Childrens Hospital. One of the first heart transplants to be conducted in the United States was conducted at the hospital in 1968. Herman Hospital launched Life Flight in 1976. Life flight was the first private hospital air ambulance. The Texas Medical Center has been involved in pioneering medical innovations that almost border the impossible. The medical innovations continue to impact peoples lives on a positive note. In 2014, Texas Medical Center launched the innovation institute. The innovation institute is one of the first five institutes that have been developed with an intention of fostering collaboration across all member institutions of The Texas Medical Center. In 2015, the Health Policy Institute was launched. The Health Policy Institute was launched with a goal of elevating collective resources for its member institutions, nationally and globally. Member institutions of The Texas Medical Center include The University of Texass Anderson Hospital of Cancer and Research, Texas Childrens Hospital, Texas Heart Institute, Houston Medical Hospital, The Innovation Institute and The Health Policy Institute.

The hospital is a home for a Level-1 certified trauma center. It is worthy to mention that there are only two level 1 certified trauma centers in Houston. The hospital provides 24 hours a day emergency care. The hospital also provides 24 hours a day trauma care. On a yearly basis, the hospital receives an approximate of 40,000 patients in its trauma care unit. Due to the high number of patients that attend the hospitals trauma unit, the hospital is ranked as the busiest trauma center in the United States. The hospital is ranked six nationally with regard to adult specialties and second with regard to pediatric specialties. It has a capacity of 973 beds. The hospital has vibrant emergency room visits. In 2016, a total of 71,000 emergency visits were reported at the hospital. Memorial Hermann- Texas Medical Centre is ranked as the second best-performing hospital in Texas. The hospital is high performing with regard to geriatrics, orthopedics, and pulmonology. The hospital is high performing in terms of abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, colon cancer surgery and heart failure.

Memorial Hermann- Texas Medical Centre has one of the most developed and effective Emergency Medical services section in America. Emergency Medical services (EMS) section is a section of the healthcare industry that is entrusted with providing out of hospital medical care. EMS section always provides medical care that is acute in nature. EMS section is also entrusted with transporting of people who have life-threatening conditions to hospitals so that they may receive appropriate and holistic medical care. Emergency medical technicians are individuals who are entrusted with providing emergency medical services. Emergency medical technicians are often clinicians who have been trained to respond promptly to emergency situations. Emergency situations that Emergency Medical services are associated with include accident scenes and fire situations. The main purpose of Emergency Medical Services is to fulfill basic principles of First Aid. The basic principles of First Aid is to ensure that life is preserved, to ensure that further injury is prevented and to ensure that recovery is promoted. In the case of an emergency, emergency vehicles with Emergency Medical Technicians respond promptly to the emergency site and ensure that they provide victims of the emergency situation with emergency medical care. The hospital provides air based Emergency Medical services. The hospital has six helicopters under its Emergency Medical services section. The helicopters provide Emergency Medical services within a radius of 150 miles.

I did interview one person who works in one of the ground units of Texas Medical Centre-Emergency Medical services section. The individual was very affable and willing to discuss his working experience. The individual told me that he is a certified Emergency medical technician. He told me that he loves his job because it involves saving peoples lives. I noticed that he was very popular with civilians because as I interviewed him, passersby kept casting glances at him and smiling. I thought to myself that he must be darling to many people in the community because he has saved many lives.

Texas Medical Centre-Emergency Medical services section is one of the best ambulance providers in America. The ambulances cover thousands of square miles. The ambulances operate far and wide in rural Texas. Medical personnel at Texas Medical Centre-Emergency Medical services section are highly trained and have Emergency Medical Training certification. The hospitals Emergency Medical services section consists of paramedic and nursing emergency staff. The hospital offers Emergency Medical services that embrace a high level of technology. The ambulances are highly equipped with medical equipment and act as mobile intensive care units. The ambulances not only provide transport to an emergency scene but also facilitate life-saving treatment when emergency medical personnel arrive at an emergency site. Texas Medical Centre Emergency Medical Services section has a state of art communication center that is used to dispatch information to its units on the ground at all times. The Emergency Medical Services section is committed to saving lives.
