Renowned actor Leonardo DiCaprio is well known for some of his movies. However, last week, he was present at the UN climate summit where he addressed the gathering as its ambassador for peace. In particular, he addressed the topic of climate change, which has become of particular interest to governments globally due to its effects.

About twenty years ago, Mr. DiCaprio was involved in one of the greatest movies ever, Titanic. In the movie, he acted as a young man in love who was heading to the new world to achieve his dreams together with his lover. However, he did not make it as the ocean liner he was travelling in hit an iceberg and sank, resulting in one of the greatest loss of life incidences at sea.

Many people associate him with the fictitious roles he plays in his movies. However, at this gathering, he was as serious as anybody else was, addressing real world issues. According to DiCaprio, the effects of climate change are being felt now and the world can no longer wish them away as fictitious. Action needs to be immediate in order for the earth to survive the effects of climate change. If governments do not take immediate action, there is a possibility that the effects of climate will reach a point of no return where the damage can no longer be controlled and reversed. If this point reaches, we are likely to find ourselves in a situation that looks like the movies, but we will not have superheroes to rescue us anymore.
