Sleep remains one of the mysterious human behaviors. There is a wide range of studies directed toward understanding this human need. It is right to state that the only treatment to sleep is sleeping. It is pointed out that a person can only deprive sleep of three days and the maximum recorded time is eleven days. In its way, it is amazing how humans and animal have to take some time and sleep. It is true that one drives high satisfaction from sleeping, relieves tiredness, stress and a begging for a new day. However, once a person has slept waking up in most of the cases is a problem. It is suggested that a person should sleep at least eight hours a day. However, in most of the cases is hard to do so and the majority of people tend to sleep between 3 to 6 hours. For a student, it is recommended that they ensure they sleep for 8 hours and above. However, it is a challenge to do o noting that most of us sleep at 12, 1 or 2 in the morning. All the time we usually spend it online on Facebook Twitter or Instagram.

To begin with, it is essential to explain how neuroscience explains sleep. Serotonin is identified as a chemical that is responsible for mood balance. It carries signals along and between nerves and it is found in blood platelets, bowels and brain. Serotonin is identified as a brain chemical that is responsible for regulating sleep and wake cycle. The levels of serotonin in the body could have the impact on the manner one sleeps. In the case of normal serotonin levels, a person will experience regular sleep and wake cycle. On the contrary, when serotonin levels are not normal then one could be experiencing sleep disturbances. In line with this, I could point out that the reason why I have the problem waking you early in the morning for my class is that my serotonin levels are not healthy. Consequently, I experience sleep difficulties which in this case is lack of sleep satisfaction. It is due to this that I suffer great urge to continue sleeping, opening eyes is a challenge and to make the rest of the bodywork such as to get out of the bed more difficult.

As pointed out, matters of sleep remain mysterious. Reflecting the little known relating to sleep and the function of serotonin is that it plays a definite role in sleep cycles. It is when there are high levels of serotonin one is likely to be awake for long, hence, low level of sleep. On the contrary, when a body has low levels of serotonin a person will remain awake for few hours, thus, high levels of sleep. Therefore, I could explain that the reason why I experience difficulties waking up early in the morning is that of low levels of serotonin in the body meaning that I have to sleep for long hours a day. However, the question could be why my body has low levels of serotonin. Studies indicate that low level of Serotonin will be as a result of disruptions. These disruptions include inconsistent sleep schedule and constant travel. Among the two possible cases, I would agree that I have an irregular sleep schedule. The time that I retire to sleep every day varies from eleven to three in the morning. It could be the reason why the body has low levels of serotonin leading to difficulties in waking up especially in the morning.

The other aspect relates to the explanation of sleep under consciousness. Various questions are rising as to whether sleep is a form of unconsciousness. Sleep is a state of unconsciousness and varies from one person to the other. It means that a person will experience a different level of sleep that is some will be heavy sleepers while others will be light sleepers. Sleep identifies as a biological need, and when a person is experiencing sleep deprivation, they are likely to show the following sigs. There is the case of impaired attention, impaired concentration, irritability and discomforts, hallucinations and microsleeps. Studies under consciousness elaborate that a person undergoes four sleep stages. The first stage of sleep is the case where a person translates from being awake to sleep. In this stage, a person experiences microsleeps and alpha waves which are rapid low-voltage waves. It is pointed out that a person in this stage will take 30minutes to move to stage 2. Also, the fact that it is easy to wake up while at this stage implies that this I, not the stage I am in the morning while trying to wake up for my class.

The second stage is the case when one starts to experience sleep spindles, and theta waves characterize it. These are slower and more regular wave pattern. Furthermore, in this, stage a person is less easily aroused. Moreover, when a person is at this stage they are experiencing slow breathing, breathing rate and body temperatures are also decreasing. Then there is stage 3 whereby a person experiences delta waves and is in a deep sleep meaning it is difficult to arouse. Finally, there is the fourth stage which is also characterized by delta waves that are more slow and regular. At this stage, a person is less responsive to the environmental stimuli. At this stage, it is more difficult to arouse. It is pointed out that while asleep a person will alternate between the stages. I can state that in the morning I am on stage 2, 3 or 4 but not 1. It is because some of the time I will hear my alarm by opening my eye and bringing me to move from the bed is very difficult. The other explanation regarding why it is hard to wake up early in the morning is as follows. In the morning, the brain is cold, and it has to try to warm up to notice what is going on. The act hitting of the snooze control is not enough but the actual arouse out of bed is the most difficult. Therefore, concerning consciousness, the reason why I experience trouble getting up in the morning for my early class aligns with the stage of sleep that I am in the morning. It could be stage, 2, 3 or 4 depending on whether I hear my alarm or not or whether the difficult is to arouse from the bed.

Also, the reason why I experience a problem getting up early in the morning could be explained regarding learning and conditioning. Learning identifies as a permanent change in behavior that results from experience. In line with this, a person is expected to show behavioral aspect subject to what he or she has learned. There is the case of conditioning whereby it involves a particular stimulus that will result in a given response. It is true that majority of people depends on the alarm to wake up in the morning. It means that upon the sounding of the alarm a person will wake up and go on to prepare and to carry out their daily activities. It is that back in my mind I am aware that I need to wake up and go to class. However, I still experience trouble getting up, and it will take me minutes to arouse from the bed since the time I hit snooze of my alarm.

Therefore, based on learning and conditioning the reason why I experience the trouble is that I am yet to learn the behavior of waking up early. It could be because I am resisting to wake up or because the stimulus that which would have forced me to wake up is not sufficient to fulfill this purpose. It I that my body and in particular my brain it is yet to be conditioned in a way that upon hearing the alarm I can arouse from the body immediately. Some people claim that they automatically wake up at 6 Am meaning that their brain has learned this behavior. Therefore, learning the behavior to wake up early which aligns with training my mind and body imply that upon deciding a specific time in the morning and using a stimulus, in this case, an alarm will result in me waking up early every day. It is further explained that upon the brain becoming conditioned in that manner, I wont need the stimulus anymore to wake up.

Finally, there is the concept of cognition and motivation. The case of waking up could be associated with the motivation which could mean something that is driving a person to wake up early. Motivation identify as aspects that energize and direct behavior. Motivation gives a reason or reasons for behaving in a particular way. It means that the reason for not waking up early whereas I am supposed to wake up early is because sleep gives me motivation to gone sleeping. In that, the satisfaction derived from sleeping is good in a way that I cannot overcome the need to wake up. Failure to wake up, therefore, means that it is giving me reasons to sustain behavior of sleeping.

The concept of the motivation of needs relates to the hierarchy of needs. In this case, two things require satisfaction that is attending the morning class and gain knowledge and to sleep until satisfaction. In this case experiencing trouble getting up means that the need to sleep tends to outweigh the need to attend the class. It would be elaborated that participating the class and knowledge that I would gather from attending the class is not motivating enough such that I could be able to overcome the sleep. The sleep, in this case, is the psychological need while education could be identified as safety needs. It relates to gaining education so that a person can secure better employment. However, attending the class could be clarified to be any of the levels depending on what a person wishes to accomplish. In line with this, a person adopting the motivation concept would argue that the reason why I have trouble waking up in the morning for my early class is that I lack proper motivation to attend the class.
