The Role of Christianity in My Life

Christianity teachings are founded in the Bible. The word Christian is derived from the word Christ. It is used to refer to the followers of Christ. The Bible teaches that earth world was created by a divine being who is love and human beings are created in the image and likeness of God and hence we are expected to love one another and co-exist peacefully. Christianity is the belief in God and in Jesus Christ as the only begotten son of God. Christians pray in a church. Christianity is practiced all over the world and it is almost two hundred and seventeen years old. According to the Bible, Christianity began on the day of Pentecost A.D. 29, and today it is the most widely practiced religion. Christianity has led to the development of the society through provision of social amenities such as schools and hospitals. Christianity also supports marriage and family values. Faith in God has made people to respect, care and love one another. Christianity has strengthened marriage foundations, promoted human education and led to creativity in art, music and literature. Christianity in the Eastern Europe acts as a national identity. Majority of the people in this region view Christianity as an element of national belonging. There are different forms of religions but the majority of the Eastern Europe population are Orthodox Christians. Christianity controls people believes, enhances the sense of belonging to a community and influences behaviors.

Christianity supports marriages and family. In Russian, Christianity led to introduction of a law that offers financial support to married couples who have more than two children. This law encourages people to get married and have many children. The Bible encourages people to pro create and fill the earth. This law has been of great help in our family because we are a beneficiary. My family is able to support us because of the financial aid we receive from the government. The financial aid was introduced in Russia when Christianity was adopted. This law has supported many marriages and it has helped marriages to stand despite the high cost of living. The law has also helped the nation from being influenced by westernization where Christian values have been abandoned. In some Countries gay marriage is legalized but because of the strong foundation of Russia on orthodox Christianity, it has been able to embrace the Christian marriages even in this modern era.

Christianity supports the right to life of every human being even the unborn child. The Bible commands Christians thou shall not kill. It is in this note that Russia which is a Country with majority of the citizen being Christians abolished the law on financial support to abortion. Abortion is the intentional elimination of an unborn child. Christianity promote the right to life. Before Christianity, Russia had a law that offered financial support to those who wanted to abort, but with adoption of Christianity this law was abolished. Abolishment of this law has helped the Christians to value life and also live morally upright lives.

Christianity has helped shape the culture of people. Culture is the way of life of people, believes, customs and traditions. Culture helps people to form relations and influences the way they perceive things. Christianity has made major contributions in the Russian culture. The orthodox Christian conservative nature has made Russia to maintain its Christian values without being influenced by westernization. As a Russian, I feel proud to belong to a community. I always have pride identifying myself with my religion. Even when I visit a foreign Country, my national identity identifies me with my religion because majority of Russians are Orthodox Christians. Christianity has influenced the way Russian socialize and treat each other this is because of the notion that individualism is alien to orthodoxy. Christianity forms strong links with the Russian government and therefore it has contributed greatly in the development of laws that protect the Christianity culture of the people.

Christianity has contributed greatly to art, music and literature. A Songs like Soli Deo Gloria have been derived from the Bible. Many other songs sang to praise God have been derived from the Bible. Different sculptures of Jesus, Saints, Angels and other images whose imagination is derived from the Bible have been molded. Most importantly the architectural designs of the earliest churches remain as attractions till this day, a good example is the Portuguese church in Mombasa Kenya which is a tourist attraction. Christian faith has influenced great writers like Dante, Shakespeare, Milton and others. Had religion and Christianity never been introduced the music would be very different.

Christianity has molded the way of life of people. The fear of God and the expectation of life after death as provided in the teachings of the Holy Bible makes Christianity a religion that has shaped the life of humanity greatly. Christianity has led to respect of women in the society and this has strengthened families. Many political structures are founded on the values of Christianity because it is the widely practiced religion. Although there are many forms of religions, Christianity stands out in shaping societal values and practices.
