In the art, there are various elements which have been used to illustrate the use of art in the painting. These comprise of the line, shape and form, texture, color, and space. In the Vallotton Felix, writing in an interior art, both horizontal and vertical lines have been used. The horizontal lines which are depicted at the bottom part of the art shows the feeling of rest and peace which the woman has during the time she is writing in the house. On the other hand, the vertical line is portrayed in the background along the walls to depict the height of the house and its size. It also shows the space which comprise of the width and depth the woman have occupied in the painting. The lines have also been used to represent the permanence and reliability of the art as well as its components. For example, it shows the reliability of the woman and the other piece of arts which are in the house.
The art also has different shapes and forms which have been illustrated by different closed lines. These comprise of the geometric shapes and forms such as rectangles. It shows that they are human-made and they were incorporated by the author of the art during the painting process. The use of these shapes and forms aided the artist to draw this complex painting, a process which has a greater impact on the art composition and balance. The rectangular shapes depict that the author used specific measurements in the construction of the painting. On the other hand, the painting also has a free form or organic shapes which are typically irregular or asymmetric. For example, the fingers of the writing woman and her body shape show the irregular shapes and forms. These forms are not easy to describe by using definitions. Moreover, the positive shapes which make the painting quite unique in the art analysis are also utilized. In the art, the writing woman formed part of the positive shapes since she is the subject matter under analysis in the work of art. It illustrates the calmness portrayed by the woman as she tries to handle her errands in the house. It also reveals the components of the house as well as the decorations which have been used in the walls of the house as well as the floor.
In the Vallotton Felix, writing in an interior art, both positive and negative space has been utilized. The area or space which is occupied by the woman, the table and the flower is the positive space, and the other which is occupied by other arts and painting as wells as the trees is the negative space. The negative space is more hence making the picture to be less proportionate and vivid. However, the artist balanced it with other paintings to achieve his goal as well as enhancing the tastes and preference of the users. There is a usage of the three-dimensional shapes as it has been depicted by the images of the woman, the table, the window and doors. It is a skill which has been achieved through the perspective drawing techniques and shadings. The perfect decoration and shading of the womans veil, her body parts and other paintings in the room give them the three dimensions, a skill which most of the artists always tries to achieve while composing their paintings or portraits. These give a sense of livelihood, vivacity and a sense of touch of the painting by the users.
In the art, color is life, and the painting without color appears to be one which has no value. Various colors have been used in the painting. The veil of the woman is painted with the blue color and the table with a white color. On the other hand, the background of the painting is painted with a yellow- purple color while the floor and the windows are painted in reddish color. The dull colors have been mixed with other colors to show the calmness which the woman have been experiencing in the room while writing her work. It also gives the stillness which is portrayed by the green environment and the sunlight which penetrates from the cool environment. Therefore, in the art, value element is noted to describe the brightness of the color used to create the mood the mood of the woman. The bright colors that have been used by the author to demonstrate the positive energy and heightened emotions that can be witnessed in the picture as the woman seemed to be thinking and carrying out some analysis before writing. These are depicted by her posture and slating image of her head.
The texture is another element which has been displayed by the painting. The texture refers to the quality of the image which is sensed through touch. In this piece of art, the texture of the painting is rough both at the margin as well as at negative and positive spaces. It shows that it is purple-yellow at some points and contains some or small lines on the walls which depict roughness of the floor and the floor. On the other hand, the painting of the clothing or the veil is a clear indication of fabrics of different types which are used in the contemporary society. It thus shows the manner in which the author has portrayed the manner in which the society has been using different fabrics to enhance their beauty.
There are also various art design which have been used in the painting, these comprise of the usage of balance, patterns and emphasis. For instance, the artist have equality distributed the visual weight of color, texture and space. The art is centrally placed with the blue color have been applied in the veil of woman, a whitish color on the collar and black hair. Besides, on the womans body, the vertical lines is equally distributed to depict the quality of the work and to give a proper view of the woman paintings. The asymmetrical balance has been used and the woman is not centrally placed in the painting. Also, a lot of emphasis has been used in the image especially when different colors were used on the background, the veil of the woman and the table, wall, window and door. The difference makes the woman to stand out and it makes her distinct and visual for the users. In the art, especially at the bottom, different patterns have been used. Besides, the whole background has similar patterns which aids in the creation of unity and makes the work look active and presentable.
Therefore, in this painting, the author has incorporated different elements of art to depict the Vallotton Felix, writing in an interior at in a fine and valuable manner. He had incorporated all elements in one way or another, and they comprise of the use of both horizontal and vertical lines, the geometrical and organic shape and forms, the positive and negative space, the bright and dull color with divergent intensities. Also, the rough texture has been depicted in the painting both on the woman and other paintings.
