Significant Role of Telegram Written by George Kenan in United States of America Cold War

George Frost Kenan was an American behind the containment policy that was used by the Americans foreign policy during the cold war. Kenan published the long telegram while working in Moscow as an ambassador to answer on the growing negativity and lack of cooperation that was being experienced by the United States of America government from the Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin. During the World War II, the United States of America and the Soviet Union experienced a friendly relationship since they were allies until the defeat of Japan and Nazi Germany. However, this relationship changed after the war and the Soviet Union started becoming cold towards the Americans at the end of the war due to conflicts in repatriations and the growing territorial greed of the Soviet Union.

Germany influence and need to the alliance with the communist Soviet Union were thwarted using the containment policy through the formation of the NATO alliance made of the western European nations against the growing influence of the communist administrations. The containment approach was also used in Vietnam, and it is currently being used against Asian countries such as China and North Korea in which the country reduces cultural exchanges and trade between the countries by convincing its allies also to alienate the nations economically and culturally. This approach has been effective in reducing the military threats and immobilization in Cuba and eastern Germany.
