Human nature can be defined as individuals psychological makeup as well as how they behave and feel. Human nature is thus developed through the incorporation of various functional aspects that can be grouped into personal nature, competitiveness, self-preservation, economic, developmental, sexual, hedonistic and nature (Kaebnick, 2011). Subsequently, human nature is common to all human beings regardless of their race, economic or social status, gender, age or religion. Since human nature is common to every person, it has the effect of forcing one to have strong feelings on certain things as well as relating to other people who have a similar human nature. Religion in this regard plays a role in the formation of human nature in that the more people practice certain religious practices, the more these practices become second nature and become engrained in ones life thus become a part of their human nature.
Human nature has a vital function in all religions as it can be incorporated in a wide range of religions. Human nature in Christianity is evident in that Christian believers have a belief and trust in some unseen and unknown all-powerful entity. In spite of all the unknowns associated with this all-powerful being, Christians still find it in their nature to trust this being. As such it can be observed that it has been spiritually embedded in Christians to believe daily without question. As such, Christians human nature is characterized by how much they believe and have faith.
Human nature as stated earlier is common in all religions as all the believers in all the religions have a common belief that their religious practices have a place and purpose in the world. The majority of people in the world hold the belief of God, gods, worship an individual that is based on religious notions as well as a belief in some form of an afterlife. Such beliefs are as a result of human nature. People all over the world believe that divinity lives in the world, through other people, daily actions and in their daily lives. This notion is supported by an article on religion and human nature that suggests that various cultures have unique viewpoints in that they believe that human beings have divine essences in themselves (Zeller).
For instance, Jainism and Hinduism believe that the One created many and the creation of the human beings is an opportunity to attain spiritual perfection. As such, it is engrained in Hinduism and Jainism to have the belief and faith in the multiple faces and from these, see the face of the One that they worship and believe in, in all the things in the world. Furthermore, human nature in the Buddhism religion is through the practice of Zen. It is the belief of the Buddhist believers that enough rest is a religious practice that is necessary to calm the mind so as to facilitate a connection among the believers (Fisher, 2013).
Overall it is evident that human beings have a predisposition to believe in some type of divine entity as well as a form of afterlife. Such religious beliefs thus are a part of us as human beings and are innate as opposed to learning it. Though such innate beliefs, disciplines such as theology develop that seek to better explain the relationship between man and God however at the core of the human nature is the belief in a supreme all powerful being that created and has control over everything in the world.
