Motivational theories are one of the most used theories in the in all aspects. It is certain that every person needs to be motivated for them to perform better. One of the most used motivational theory is the Two-Factor Theory of motivation. In the health care setting, the health care practitioners needs to be motivated to ensure high service delivery to the patients. The management needs to understand the motivational theory to meet the needs of such workers. According to researchers, one of the reason as to why other health care organizations are performing better than other majorly depends on how employee is motivated. In fact, it is important to note that employees are the greatest resource for any organization.
Hertzbergs Two-Factor Theory is based on two factors which include motivator and hygiene factors. It explains that it is the responsibility of the management to ensure that they satisfy needs for the employees to be motivated. Motivators factors entail making the employees of the health care feel that their efforts are being recognized (Richardson, 2014). Employees prefer the organization to include them in the decision-making process so that they can feel part of the organization. In the health care setting, the management can include those regarding analyzing ways of improving the welfare of the patients. Also, motivator factors include making the employees feel that they are enjoying their work. With the increased level of competition in the health care settings, employees prefer working with an organization that will take the feel comfortable. As such, the management of the health care setting should ensure that certain needs of the workers are met. In that light, it will ensure that employees increase their productivity.
The aspects of motivating workers have evolved over the years. Managers have tried to come up with new strategies for motivating their employees (Petri, 2013). In fact, managers have used motivation as a strategy to remain relevant in the market. In the health care, patients are likely to visit an institution that offers the best services. For health care workers to offer such services, it will require the efforts of the management. However, the motivational theory also explains that humans need to motivate themselves. It will be impossible to motivate a person who has no interest in a certain job. Some people might have been forced to partake certain jobs, yet they were not interested (Hunter, 2010). As such, it will difficult motivate such workers to improve their performance.

Hygiene factors are another concept highlighted in the motivational theory. The theory explains that seem factors can demotivate the workers if they are not put in place. One of hygiene factors is a number of wages given to the employees. According to the reports, workers are more motivated by the amount of salary they are paid. It is the responsibility of the management to ensure that employees are satisfied within a number of wages they are given. In the 21 century, salary increment has a been used by the organization to act as their competitive advantage. Companies that are paying better their employees tend to attract more workers.
Company policies are another concept outlined in the hygiene factor of motivation theory. Every company must have their policies that will ensure that it meets its objectives. In the health care settings, it is the responsibility of the management to ensure that the organization policies entail satisfying their customers as well as their employees. In some cases, an organization can be too strict which is likely to demotivate their employees.
Another way of motivating the employee is through having a good relationship with the management. In some cases, the management tends to seclude themselves from employees who make them be feared. As much as the employees are supposed to respect their superiors, the two groups need to have a good working relationship. One way of achieving such measures is through delegating roles and responsibilities to the workers. Based on the reports, employees do not prefer close supervision as it shows that the management has no faith in their work. It is the responsibility of the management also to ensure that employee has a good working relationship with each other. Such activities tend to motivate them to improve their performance. To ensure good working relationship, the management of the health care can introduce team building techniques.
Another reason as to why motivation theory is important is that it leads to innovation. With the increased level of competition, health care institution will have to be innovative to remain relevant in that field. When organization motivates their employees, they will increase their performance which will increase productivity. Such actions will also motivate workers to be more innovative to ensure that their organization performs better.
In conclusion, the motivational theory is very important for any health care organization. Employees need to be motivated to ensure that they work towards achieving the goals and objectives of the organization. It is the responsibility of the management to strategies on the different methods of motivation that would work best for his/her employees.
