Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that conducts research into family planning, contraceptives and reproductive issues, and offers advice on the same. The ethics and morality of abortion are one of the major controversial topics in the United States. There have been numerous new calls regarding defunding of the Planned Parenthood based on this controversy. Despite this huge controversy majority of the Americans still, believe that any move to defund the Planned Parenthood would have tremendous negative repercussions for the public.

In March 2017, Senate Republicans voted down a rule put in place by President Obamas administration that offers protection to Title X funding to those who offer abortion services. Title X is a program funded by the federal government that has been in place since the 1970s. It offers funds to healthcare institutions providing family planning services. The Republican Party is determined to do away with funding for Planned Parenthood together with other abortion providers. This prompted President Obama to put in place the rule.

Fundamentally, the move to eliminate the funds to clinics will make many women engage in sexual issue without the preventative care such as contraception (Florez 1). Notably, the family planning is a critical component of human reproduction process because its absence will enhance the continuous and unregulated of population increase. With a specific emphasis, abortion allows women to terminate the pregnancies as per their will, and sometimes through doctors direction. Planned Parenthood will, therefore, allow women who have unplanned pregnancies make proper planning about the number of children they want to give birth.

The essential services provided by the Planned Parenthood are not readily available and therefore should not be defunded (Florez 1). Various reports have shown that the one-fifth of every county that have the Planned Parenthood services lacks any other clinics that provide the same services. Any move to defund the Planned Parenthood will cause a serious problem to the majority of Americans due to inaccessibility to such services.

In reality, the Planned Parenthood should not be defunded because the allegations that they sell the fetal tissue is never right and therefore, essential to the provision of the basic health service to women across the nation and the world. The majority of the women served by these clinics are uninsured, and therefore, if defunded, this huge number is likely to suffer.

In conclusion, this paper has offered a discussion of the negative repercussions of defunding Planned Parenthood. In its actuality, the essential services provided by the Planned Parenthood are not readily available and therefore should not be defunded. Finally, the move to eliminate the funds to clinics will make many women engage in reproductive issue without the preventative care such as contraception. Abortion through Planned Parenthood will help women with unplanned pregnancies terminate them so as to regulate the number of children they give birth.
