The Tao of Pooh and the Alchemist are two books that should be read hand in hand. The Alchemist is majorly based on a dream both in action and meaning. The Tao of Pooh, on the other hand, is based on the principle of religious Taoism. The Tao of Pao and The Alchemist are connected by the fact that they both address similar life topics that are of great significance to everyone alive. The universal topic of love is the general idea in both the books. Both the books address international principles that everyone on earth can actually relate to in their lives. The essay explores the connection that is found between the two book; The Alchemist and The Tao of Pooh.
One of the themes shared by the two book is that of religion. In the Alchemist, religion is viewed to be both positive and negative depending on the subject matter and the views or beliefs of someone. An abandoned church is presented to which Santiago has to either run or abandon. The Tao of Pooh, on the other hand, focus on the belief of Taoism which advocates for harmonious living (Smith & Smith, 2016).. The universal order of ways of life is the basic of this religious teaching. It is believed in the Alchemist that once someone desires to do something, then the entire universe would aid towards the achievement of their desire. In a way, this relates to the universal order of things that is presented by the Alchemists. Personification is also greatly employes, and in one instance, Santiago personifies the desert and I quote, I have watched the caravan as it crossed the desert, he said. The Caravan and the desert speak the same language , and its for that reason that the desert allows crossing Santiago speaks about the desert as though the desert possed some human characters (Help & Alchemist, 2017)..
The two books address the issue of fate in the human life. The Alchemist looks at the fate in relation to its influence on the achieving someone's legend. People often wonder if their lives are already determined or whether they have their future in their hands. Fate is presented as the greatest obstacle to the achievement of one's legend (Help & Alchemist, 2017). In Tao of Pooh, however, the issue of what is wrong in life is the center of focus. Everyone wonders in life about what the wrong in life.
Santiago who is a priest in the Alchemist uses the philosophy of Taoism which advocates for appreciating exactly who are you are in life. Santiago in the Alchemist is similar to Winnie the Pooh in The Tao of Pooh (Smith & Smith, 2016). They both share in the religious belief and advocacy of good in human life. Eeyore is the direct opposite of Santiago due to the fact that he focuses on the wrong issues in life such that he never sees the good that also exists in life.
The author of Tao of Pooh presents Winnie the Pooh as a character that is able to associate with him even as he writes the book. Th author of Tao of Pooh uses a language that is full of lots of symbolism. Even the characters in the story symbolize various characters or situations in the real-life situation. Personification and metaphor are among the other language and writing styles employed in this narrative (Smith & Smith, 2016). The Alchemist, on the other hand, employs the language of the universal nature of the desires mankind. Every individual in the society is described to possess a dream that they are willing to pursue all the days of their lives irrespective of the odds in life (Help & Alchemist, 2017).
