Evidence based practice is essential to the efficient service delivery in the healthcare facilities. Evidence based practice in clinical practice ensures the formulation of quality decisions among the nurses. It also provides the nurses with the opportunity to provide services based on clinical expertise and quality research activities. It ensures the provision of care using the most recent approaches satisfied by quality research findings. The approach thus helps to provide cost effective healthcare and enhance the safety and health of the patients. The technique is primarily based on data collection, appraisal, interpretation, and interpretation of the research findings. Safety on the job is very fundamental in the workplace. Evidence based practice thus ensures the security of all the stakeholders within the healthcare facility (Bo et al. 2014). The approach encourages rapid response within the hospital and high-quality service among the nurses. This study thus focuses on the development and examination of the PICOT question to ensure the proper implementation of the evidence based practice in clinical practice.

A PICOT question is an approach that ensures the creation of clinical questions and ensures the research to determine the evidence. A PICOT question focuses on the development of an answerable and researchable question.

A PICOT question Comprises of the population (P) where the study is conducted. The population involves a sample of the targeted population. It also comprises of the intervention (I) which indicates the nature of treatment administered to the patients. The question also entails a comparison (C) that ensures the treatment intervention is compared with the reference group. Outcome (O) of the intervention also makes the part of the question as it stipulates the expected result. Time (T) taken to collect the data is the final section of the PICOT question (Rodgers et al. 2014).

Example PICOT question.

In adults experiencing chronic neck suffering, what is the minimum dosage of control important to create a clinically essential improvement in neck suffering compared with directed exercise at six weeks?

Population (P)

The population considered in the research consists of adults age between 18 and 60 years. The population comprises of the individuals with clinical chronic neck pain and has not experienced cervical SMT recently. The population thus excludes patients who are not experiencing mechanical neck challenges.

Intervention (I)

Standard rotary and the lateral break will be offered to subjects through randomization. It will be offered three, twice and once a week for six weeks. The patients will also undergo the exercise regimen experienced by the control group to ensure the elimination of exercise as a factor affecting the outcome.

Comparison(C)

The control group used would comprise of the standardized exercise regimen under supervision. The entire group would thus perform the standardized regime at different sessions for six weeks. This will ensure complete minimization of the non-specific outcomes resulting from attending the clinic (Stillwell et al. 2017).

Outcome (O)

The outcome comprises of the expected neck pain changes determined by the use of the 100mm VAS for the specific pain.

Time (T)

The outcome of the research will be measured at an interval of six weeks.

Teaching the clinical input through the standard rotary and the literal break technique is essential since it enables the proper planning of the treatment and recruitment of the patients. It also ensures the enhancement of communication among the patients and the clinical experts. The standardization administered through well-developed training sessions provides the elimination of additional interventions. A PICOT question is thus very essential and should be a necessity in clinical practice. It enhances service delivery within the hospitals.
