The explanation of good will require the explanation of what Kant used to explain good and will. According to Kant, good is a practical thing relating to the practical action. Kant considers good will as the moral value of an action taken by an individual or a company. It is the duty of an individual that help him build a good will. For that matter, good will is a reputation gained by the effort and action of an individual.
The categorical imperative is an idea brought about by Kant and according to him, the imperative is what someone has an obligation of doing. According to Kant, something is categorical when something is factual throughout under all circumstances. For example, a person, who is thirsty, must take water and therefore it is imperative to take water when thirsty to quench thirst. Kant used this example to explain his opinion on ethics of categorical imperative. Drinking water when thirstily is hypothetical imperative but only a moral decision when taking water for any other reason. Kant believed that moral choices are influenced by categorical imperative and according to him; it is something that must be accomplished by someone to solve a given problem. Therefore an ethical person is required to make choices on the basis of categorical imperative or to adhere to the universal law when making choices in spite of their condition. The categorical imperative is explained further by Kant by introducing maxim which is a good strategy of expressing what we want to accomplish and why in one word.
A person has infinite value because every person would try to avoid anything that would risk or shorten their life. Life of every person must be protected by any degree by avoiding anything that would risk the life of an individual. The infinite value of a person is there because the life of another person is important for another person. According to old Jewish saying, save one life, save the whole World show that life of an individual is very important to the society and even the world at large. This, therefore, means that the life of a person in useful to others. For example, a parent can sacrifice his time and resource to feed and educate their children and this does not mean that their life is more important the life of their children. Morally, it is necessary to give every person equal infinite value because it will prevent us from committing a crime and give them justification to be good.
The second formulation of the categorical imperative is a very important ethical principle which requires people to respect one another by not treating them as ends but means. Always do not use people but build them by acting in a manner that that treat rational beings as ends in themselves.
Lying is really wrong because it diminishes trust between different people. Lying is also wrong because it tore the relationship between different people and castigates enmity. Ethically, it is a very bad practice that does not unite the people and therefore considered a basic moral wrong among the people. Finally, I believe lying is wrong because language is vital to human societies and human beings have the duty to use it truthfully. It is ethical to treat people with respect ensure that they are treated fairly by not being treated as just a means to an end but a useful being in the society.
