There has been a debate about the effectiveness and deficiency of medicinal marijuana. Some of these debates have contributed to the delay in the legalization of medicinal marijuana. Duke (2017) has drummed support for the legalizing and adoption of medicinal marijuana. Based on the article, by Duke (2017) argued that medicinal marijuana is more effective than the prescription medication has very few side effects as compared to prescription medication.

The research by Duke (2017), compared the effectiveness of the medical marijuana with the effectiveness of the prescription medication. While medical, marijuana is effective against some medical condition conditions, Duke (2017) should have also indicated that that marijuana is addictive and the withdrawal symptoms may be too dire for the users such as opioid-induced hyperalgesia. Duke (2017)s approach to the topic of interest is balanced, objective and incisive. I,, howeve, have issues with the way Duke (2017) has relied on subjective opinions. Duke (2017) has not included any relevant peer-reviewed journals which makes the presentation look like a marketing advertisement for medicinal marijuana. I would recommend to Duke (2017) to include as much as studies as possible including peer-reviewed journals, cohort studies, Randomized controlled trial such as blinded trial, double-blind and non-blind trial studies to prove his claim.

Medicinal marijuana is effective against many medical conditions. For example, the researcher argues that medicinal marijuana components such as THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) have proven that its effective for treatment of conditions such as cancerous tumors, relieve chronic pain, improve appetite, relieve pressures in the eyes due to glaucoma. Medicinal marijuana also reduces the rate of reducing cell damage as a result of caused by chemotherapy, relieve the patient from nausea, reduce muscle spasms as a result of multiple sclerosis. It can also relieve the patient from seizures in epileptics, symptoms of Crohn's disease and offer relief from the debilitating tremors associated with Parkinson's, PTSD, anxiety disorders, sleep disorders and slow down the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Duke (2017) has also indicated that even though medicinal marijuana has few side effects, users can select strains of medicinal marijuana which means that it can also be customized based on a users medical conditions, known sensitivities to chemicals.

The discussion would appeal to doctors, medical researcher, policy developers and the patient suffering from various medical conditions. Duke (2017) has combined pathos, ethos, and logos to appeal to the audience effectively. Considering the strength of the argument, this researcher offers as conclusive information on the effectiveness of the medicinal marijuana.
