Interpersonal communication is the means by which two or more people exchange feelings and emotions, either verbally or non-verbally. Concepts in interpersonal communication try to investigate while explaining the complexity of human intercommunications. Family communication is very crucial especially the one between the parents and their teens. Over the ages, several mediums have infiltrated the means and tools of communications, including mobile phones and other technological gadgets. Family communication is essential once explained in the four key concepts of interpersonal communication, as the communication is gradually changing from verbal to nonverbal and use of electronic gadgets (Verderber & Verderber, 2013). The more these communication means changes, the more the connection stays the same, as the primary objective is to pass or share information. This paper identifies the family intercommunication, in relevance to the two scene videos, while using the four key concepts in shaping the interpersonal communication.

Four Interpersonal Concepts of Communications in a Family Setting

As Verderber and Verderber (2013) assert, strategizing forms an essential concept of interpersonal communication. Strategizing concept involves an application of both passive, active as well as an interactive form of communication among the different people. A passive strategy in family communication, a parent, may shape up the communication means with their teens, by just observing them from a distance and decide on whether to use an active or a passive strategy (Verderber & Verderber (2013). An example from the first video, a messaging media would be applicable for the parent who wished to inform the teens on any issue in the family.

As Verderber and Verderber (2013) Chronicle, another fundamental concept in interpersonal communication is the self-disclosure. Self-disclosure is self-reciprocated, as it suggests, it brings someone of some people together by just disclosing vital information favorable to engage contact sharing hence create a more advanced communication. A family setting would well work for this concept, when the parent seeks the teens to use the idea, while disclosing the relevant information, without any due consequences. Such concept can well trigger the teens and the other family members to share information concerning certain issues affecting them (Verderber & Verderbe, 2013). In the second video, for instance, the lyrics show the mother disclosing about the character of the deceased man, jumping from a bridge.

Berko et, al., (2010) ascertain that critical stages in interpersonal communication are another stage which shaped the interpersonal communication. In stage concept of intercommunication, a mother can explain or develop the progressing of communication, especially in superior position. An individual information given in stages by the teens in this concept determined is the communication is enough to create a relationship (Berko et, al., 2010). In the second video, the mother decides on the correct timing to give the sad news to the family, especially to the teens, information which shapes how they think and takes the situation that is after doing their job, when they were relaxed.

As Berko et, al., (2010) assert, the last concept of interpersonal communication is the opposite pattern. An opposite pattern is responsible for breaking relationships, as a negative commission mirrors the initiation of these particular relationships. A family focusing on interpersonal differences rather than focusing on their similarities best follows the reverse pattern concept of interpersonal communication. A family is doomed to have a fallen relationships. Therefore to avoid these different patterns, a family ought to focus on similarities rather than differences (Berko et, al., 2010). In addition to the first video, the reporting mother explains the basis of a family staying focused on what brings them together, rather than what difference they have while solving their differences by inducing suitable communication solution, of facial communication to complex issues o texting to less severe problems.

Conclusion

Interpersonal communication is very crucial in shaping interpersonal relationships. The connection, in this case, is formed by the type of communication one chooses. As the first video suggests, teens are more fond of using phones, hence texting them would incorporate a more participative communication to the common issues. The four interpersonal communication concepts that while applied can positively shape a family interpersonal communications are; communication strategizing, avoiding a reverse pattern, connection stages as well as self-disclosure.
