The northwest hospital and Medical Center has a compliance program ensures employees and the personnel comply with the applicable laws. A vital component of the program is the standard of conduct that sets out fundamental principles that every staff member, affiliated entities must follow (Resources - UW Medicine Compliance, 2017). Some of the standards of conduct include: all staff has to maintain the confidentiality of the facility business information and patient information. Every employee has the responsibility of identifying potential compliance issues present in their duties and seeking advice regarding the issue. In simple terms, the standard of conduct covers issues that deal with personnel integrity, honesty, the facilitys policies and procedures, books and record keeping, safety standards and health regulations, harassment, illegal activities, and violations.

Also, the facility has a notice of privacy practices that explains a patients information may be used, disclosed, and how a patient can access this information (Resources - UW Medicine Compliance, 2017). For instance, a patient can request to get a summary of his or her medical record either electronically or paper copy at a reasonable fee. Additionally, a patient can ask to correct their information if they think it is wrong or incomplete but doctors can say no to this request but with a reason. The patient has the right to choose the method of sending their information and ask the medical personnel to limit what they use or share. Information is only shared with an approved third party, and the patient has a right to get the list of those with whom the facility has shared the information. In any case that a patient feels his or her rights have been violated they have the right to file a complaint.

Northwest hospital and medical center have an efficient healthcare information system that helps in capturing, storing, and managing or transmitting information related to individuals health or organization activities that work within the health sector. Furthermore, the information system comprises of the district level routine information system, hospital patient administration system, disease surveillance systems, and human resource management systems.

On the other hand, the intranet is PCs that are networked. Computers on the intranet may or may not be accessible to the internet. Moreover, the intranet is a private network maintained by a firm to be used internally by its personnel. If a person types Northwest Hospital and medical center in a browser, there are a lot of information that will come up also the hospital has an e-care that helps in increasing the hospital efficiency. Also, the company has a private network that only the doctors and the personnel can access. Intradepartmental communication takes place within a department while interdepartmental takes place between departments. In Northwest hospital and medical center, inter-departmental communication is good and this evidenced by their highly effective patient transfer. The medical personnel at the hospital is highly equipped with communication skills making them able to get information, translate and interpret information to the patients and their family. The facility has started a wireless web access for their patients and their families and other visitors, and this is to promote networking within the hospital.

Billing and Coding Needs and Requirements

The hospital accepts most insurance plans that are available in the area and national plans such as Medicare and Medicaid as well. However, it is the responsibility of the patient to know the terms and limits of their coverage to be able to comprehend the hospital billing and procedures (Insurance | Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, 2017). Methods of payment include cash, checks, Visa or MasterCard, credit cards either by phone or using the online pay bill option. The hospital expects the patient to pay for the services delivered fully. Therefore, patients are screened before admission to determine their financial responsibility, but patients with emergencies will be treated and later on done the financial screening.

The administrative components that address the strategic hospital needs include the executive director, senior finance director, vice president, patient care service, chief nursing officer, and chief medical officer. The technological component is the Health Information Technology that involves designing, developing, creating, and maintaining information system in the healthcare industry. The components that address the organization needs are the mission and vision of the facility. The mission of the hospital is, to raise the long-term health status of our community by providing personalized quality care with compassion, dignity, and respect. The vision is Northwest Hospital is a community of caring health professional, valued and recognized for promoting wellness through early detection and prevention, minimally invasive interventions, and innovative clinical practices.
