The American museums describe painting and drawing as a legendary artifact discovered by the early man at the stage of evolution. The history of painting is reconstructed back in the early periods of prehistoric human development (Brooklyn Museum Newsletter, 11-16). In the traditional societies, the painting was one of the artifacts that was much appreciated and practiced. In India, a painting was one of the earliest art found in palm leaves. The paintings in India had a meaning and a symbol both to religion and to the Indian societies. In Africa, the painting was carried on caves as the man started to develop learning. The paintings were done in walls and on caves which consisted pictures of animals as well as weapons for war. The artifact is thus defined as an object or tool that is made or instead produced for a particular purpose.
The American National Museum ascertains that painting or rather wall painting is an ongoing process that has continued into the 21st century through various states. Therefore, wall painting was discovered by an early man who lived in caves. Thus, one is right to argue out that wall painting has its nature of discovery from human settlement or rather caves in which the early man lived during evolution. According to the Los Angeles Country Museum, wall painting has its origin from Egypt Africa where it is believed to be the cradle of humankind. Wall painting as an art was done in caves by man through the painting of the animals that man used to hunt as well as the painting of the weapons that man used for hunting as well as gathering.
The Los Angeles Museum indicates that wall painting was later developed after the death of Alexander the Great who had conquered the worlds culture. The 16century period marked the period in which wall painting was produced by various scholars. After the wall painting of Thera, the artifact depicted the early Aegean world as a highly developed society (Derrida, 209). To prepare wall painting, research has it that the stones wall of the building were first covered by different of mud and straw that was mixed to provide a rough wall surface. Later on, the walls were coated with a plaster of lime and lastly were covered by a soft fine layer plaster. Americans could paint tattoos, traditional leaders as well as their pets which could act like friends or rather companions. In India, the Indians portrayed religious leaders as well as their gods who were part of their daily worship. According to the Africans, the painting was made on walls of caves in which man lived. They could mostly draw animals and weapons that they used for hunting and gathering.
Through the Brooklyn Museum, Cave art preserves the art of wall painting as they protect it from erosion, decal, and corrosion. The environment of a cave has thus been well known to preserve and provide the history of wall painting through archaeology. The Stone Age painting of weapons and animals is found in cliffs as well as on rocks in various parts of the world. In a social perspective, wall painting was developed in a period when man lived in caves or instead settlement in big rocks (Ralph, 87). Wall painting was developed when man was evolving and thus hunting and gathering were the most economic practices that were taking place. The early man or rather the Stone Age period marked the period in which man developed the art of painting. Wall painting was later acquired by early man. Politically, man has developed the technique of wall painting through the consideration of painting iconic leaders in the social setting. There are the painting of political icons such as the Thera painting that is much associated with politics.
It is much essential to study archaeology in past civilization as it helps in the reconstruction of mans past culture. Through archaeology, one can discover how man lived and various cultural activities that he involved himself in. Through studying previous civilization, one can reconstruct the information on how multiple cultures were developed. Similarly, archeology helps in the reconstruction of cultural activities of a particular community.
As discussed above, the Brooklyn Museum ascertains that wall painting is developed from the early art done in rocks, cliffs and caves were the old man lived. Through the museum, Egypt provides the first pictures of man as Africa is considered to be the cradle of humankind. Similarly, wall painting has been developed through various stages as discussed above. The man started painting of animals and weapon that he used in hunting and gathering. The study of Archaeology provides the reconstruction of the history of communities. Archaeology is essential has it helps to discover the culture of early man.
