Behavioral learning theory is a theory that focuses on the observable behavior of an individual. It is in the position to study the way people interact and operate in different kinds of situations in their daily lives. There are core concepts that are important when it comes to defining and interpreting the theory in details. First, the observational learning theory, it is a concept that is used to observe the changes taking place in an individuals life. Through observation, one can determine whether the character is worth adopting or discarding. Second, expectation concept, the concept is based on the individual belief of certain results on an issue. The likely results from an expected activity because they believe in the process that took place before setting the expectations. Thirdly, behavioral capability concept, it is the knowledge and skills that are used to influence behavior in an individual with or without their consent (Huffnung, Huffnung, Seirfert, Burton, Smith, Hine, Ward, Pause, 2013, P. 80). It is affected by the fact that a person will promote training and practice so that to get the required behavior in that person.

How Knowledge of the Theory Will Help to Understand Children

The behavioral approach focuses on the observable behaviors of an individual and how the behavior can be influenced to be either better or worse. With this reason, knowledge of the theory will be of great help in understanding children as they are not in the position to express themselves in a manner that a person can understand. The theory is in the position to equip us with knowledge on observation, which helps us be in the best position to observe the behavior, movement, and operation that the children take. With this knowledge, we can understand what the kids want and what they do not want (Stephenie, 2013, P. 44). It also helps figure out what is safe for the children more so when the kids are playing and involving themselves in vigorous activities.

The theory is also able to equip us with the knowledge of behavioral capability that can help us know and understand ways that we will use to shape the behavior of the children. Understanding the behavior posted by children will determine the rate at which we can comprehend various behavioral activities. The knowledge will help us be able to shape the behavior of our children to the best character and behavior. The fact that there are so many expectations that we have for our children, we can ensure that the expectations are well staged and prepared for our kids. All this is well prepared and set with the knowledge gained from the behavioral learning theory.

Pavlov and Skinner

Pavlov and Skinner are psychologists who came up with the theory of behavioral learning. The reason as they came up with the theory was the classical methods that were not in the best position to explain the happenings in the real world situation. With this reason, they formulated the behavioral theory that was able to explain how to get to understand people by just studying their behavior and how they interact (Taggart, 2015, P. 67). Studying and understanding people by getting to know the way they operate was the main aim of their theory. The two theorists were successful in their theory as it was seen to be true as it was able to take in real life situations.
